Matthew 15:6 – So for the sake of your tradition (the rules handed down by your forefathers), you have set aside the Word of God [depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect].
One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
There are some traditions that are totally based on the word of God. Others are based on past revivals and moves of God. But some traditions have avsolutely no biblical premise or revival history at all. In fact some traditions just get in the way. It’s easy to get in a rut, and do things ‘just because we’ve always done it this way.’ But I want to be totally directed by the Holy Spirit.
You know at Radical we have traditionally done a sunday school. But at the Chapel there is no room for this and we are now doing different. And I feel it’s such a blessing. We have started family church. The children are encouraged to take part in everything to include doing overheads, worship team, praying for people, sharing etc etc.And they are doing it.
You see children aren’t just our FUTURE church they are the church RIGHT NOW. I don’t want children entertained and baby sat. I want them ministering. I want them to encounter God and be on fire for Jesus right now. And then minister to others.
Traditionally we have entertained and dumbed down Sunday school and children have got to 14 or 15 got bored and left church. Well let’s stuff tradition. We don’t need to compete with the world. We need a counter-culture. Let’s see our sons and daughters prophecy; children operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Seeing blind eyes see and deaf ears open, demons cast out is so much more fun than an Xbox 360. Let’s ditch the 360 and do a 180. For God’s sake lets dare to do different.
Prayer Father forgive me for staying in a rut. I don’t want to grieve or quench You Holy Spirit. I don’t want to do different just for the sake of it. But I am open to Your direction that we might let the Word of God be unleashed in our generation in Jesus Name Amen.
